One goal: MountainS accessible to everyone

TESSIER designs, produces and commercialises a wide range of « seated skiing » equipments.

Its products have been developed to give a maximum of pleasure, performance and autonomy to people in a situation of handicap. When the equipment allows a seated skier to have the same autonomy and the same performances as his family or friends who ski with him, the idea of handicap disappears and the goal is reached.

Some skiers won’t be able to ski alone. For them the goal is to make the access to mountains easier and to give them a maximum of pleasure and of autonomy.

TESSIER: Its history

After training as a technician and a great experience in different industrial sectors, Pierre TESSIER settled in 1987 in the mountain resort of Saint Sorlin D'Arves ( Savoie, France) where he worked in a holiday centre for disabled people.
He met individuals from the Association des Paralysés de France - French Association for paralyzed people - who were in the process of developing a Chair-Ski that would enable children to benefit from the joys of gliding. Fond of skiing and engineering, Pierre TESSIER became involved in their project in order to improve both upon the material and the training required for the operating of this new apparatus.

1995

After inventing a new system enabling the chair-ski ( Tandemski) to be used with ski lifts, Pierre TESSIER established his own company in order to manufacture and market this new concept.

1996

The company developed the Dualski, a revolutionary ski concept with 2 skis very performant and designed its Uniski.

2001
TESSIER innovate with the VFC (Vertical Flex Concept) Uniski and Dualski which come up to the expectations of the most demanding skiers. So, TESSIER can offer 2 ranges of Uniski and Dualski, one dedicated to a leisure practice, the other to a “performance” skiing.
2005

TESSIER develops a Kartski allowing the use of chairlifts and a piloting bar for Dualski

2006

The 2 small workshops in St Jean de Maurienne are not large enough, moving to a new building in St Rémy de Maurienne.

2007

TESSIER is declared as a training organism.

20...

TESSIER’s innovating process is still running. Keep an eye on it…

TESSIER today: The seated skiing technology

TESSIER offer today the widest range of seated skiing equipments in the world (4 patents) to allow everyone to ski to the maximum of his ability.

Those products have been designed on a 3D drawing software and validated by numerous tests done by ski schools and members of the French Ski Team. TESSIER is also very close to users in order to improve continually the equipments.

5 people work today in the company to offer quality equipments but also optimum advices, trainings and after sales service.

TESSIER products are “100% Made in the French Alps”.

From leisure skiing to adventure or competition skiing

Leisure

TESSIER equipments are used in around 70 ski schools in France and in many ski areas in nearly all European countries, in the USA and in Canada (26 ski areas have Tandemski and Dualski in Quebec).

Adventure

In 2002, Dominique DESBENOIT realises the downhill of the « Vallée Blanche» (over Chamonix) in Tandemski with a quadriplegic person. This downhill has been then regularly done in Tandemski, Uniski, Dualski or piloted Dualski.

Freeride is also possible thanks to the Dualski VFC. For example, Yves MATHELIN, first aid worker in Chamonix before his accident, who did heliskiing in Russia or Jean-Yves MICHELLOD who won the Red Bull Hike & Ride 2007 after having practiced sit skiing only a few months.

Competition

Nearly every French competitors ski in TESSIER and the VFC find better and better its place in international competitions (Paralympics Games, World Cups…) as it is used by members of the French Team and competitors from many countries (Swiss, Italian, Dutch, German, American…).

TESSIER is the official partner of the “Equipe de France Handisport” (French National Team of disabled skier).
